Central vacuum installation
Overview of new and existing-home installs, and what affects cost.
Adding a central vacuum to an existing home
Most finished homes can take a central vacuum. The work is in finding clean routes for the pipe, and that is what a retrofit specialist is for.
New-construction central vacuum rough-in
A new build is the easiest and tidiest time to put in a central vacuum. Pipe goes into open walls, so inlets can go almost anywhere.
Central vacuum replacement and upgrades
Most central vacuum pipe lasts for the life of the house. When the power unit wears out, you can usually replace just the unit and keep the pipe and inlets.
Central vacuum clog and blockage service
A sock, a pen cap or a buildup of debris at an elbow can stop a central vacuum cold. We find where the blockage is and clear it without opening walls where possible.
Weak central vacuum suction
Weak suction has a short list of usual causes. A few checks at home can save you a service call, and if they do not, we can find the cause quickly.
Central vacuum exterior exhaust venting
A central vacuum pushes its exhaust air out of the power unit. Venting that air outside keeps fine dust and motor heat out of your basement or garage.
Central vacuum power-unit installation
Whether your home has a builder rough-in or an old unit that has given up, we mount, connect and test the new power unit and show you how to look after it.
Central vacuum repair and service
Diagnosis and repair. Service calls from $150 plus HST.
Choosing a service
Which service fits your home?
If you are building or doing a major renovation, a new-home rough-in is the easiest and tidiest way to get central vacuum. Piping goes into open walls, so inlets can go almost anywhere you want them.
If your home is already finished, we can still add a system. We look for routes through the basement, closets, the garage and the attic so there are as few wall openings as possible. If any access work is needed, we explain it before we start.
If you already have a central vacuum that is old, loud or losing suction, it may only need a new power unit or a repair. Older piping is often still in good shape and can work with a modern unit.

What to expect
Straightforward advice, no pressure
We recommend equipment based on your home size, layout and floors, not on the most expensive model. Equipment prices are listed openly on our Products page, and installation is quoted separately so you can see what you are paying for.
Electrical work, if your home needs a new circuit or outlet for the power unit, must be done by a licensed electrician and is not included in our quote. We will let you know what is needed.

FAQ
Services questions
How much does it cost to add a central vacuum to an existing home?
Every home is different, so we quote it in person. The in-home quote is free. We look at your layout, flooring and where pipe can run, then give you a written price for the equipment and installation. Equipment prices are listed on our Products page, and HST is extra.
Do you install central vacuums in new builds?
Yes. In a new build we rough in the piping and inlet valves after framing and before drywall, then come back to install the power unit and finish the inlets once the home is closer to done. Talk to us early so the rough-in fits your builder's schedule.
Can you replace just the power unit?
Often, yes. If your existing piping and inlets are in good shape and compatible, we can replace the power unit without redoing the whole system. We confirm compatibility before ordering anything.
What does a service call cost?
Service calls start at $150 plus HST. That covers the visit and diagnosing the problem. If a repair or part is needed, we quote it before any work goes ahead.
Is electrical work included?
No. If your home needs a new dedicated circuit or outlet for the power unit, that work must be done by a licensed electrician and is not included in our price. This applies to 120 V and 240 V units. We will tell you what the power unit needs so your electrician can plan for it.
