About Simcoe Vacuum Solutions

How a central vacuum works

One system for the whole home

A central vacuum carries dirt through a network of pipes to a collection unit located away from your main living areas. Connect your hose to a wall inlet to clean each part of your home. Exterior exhaust venting may be available, depending on the model and installation.

Central vs portable

How a central vacuum differs from a portable

Suction, filtration and noise depend on the model, for both central and portable vacuums. The practical differences are how the system is set up in your home.

Central vacuum

  • • Fixed power unit away from living areas
  • • Wall inlets around the home
  • • Hose stored separately from the power unit
  • • Motor noise located at the power unit
  • • Requires installation of piping and inlets

Portable vacuum

  • • Self-contained unit you move from room to room
  • • No wall inlets or dedicated piping
  • • Hose and tools travel with the machine
  • • Motor noise is in the room being cleaned
  • • No installation required

FAQ

Common questions

Can a system be installed in an existing home?

Yes. We assess accessible routes through basements, closets, garages and attic spaces to plan your installation. If wall openings or other access work are needed, we explain the requirements before work begins.

Can existing piping be reused?

Often, depending on its condition and compatibility with the new power unit. We check this before recommending a replacement unit or a full installation.

What is included in a package?

Equipment packages typically include a power unit plus cleaning attachments. Exact hose length and type, powerhead, floor brush and other accessories are confirmed in your quote. Installation labour and materials are separate. HST is extra.

Is installation included in the displayed price?

No. Displayed prices apply to the equipment options shown and are in Canadian dollars; HST is extra. Installation labour and materials are quoted separately.

Are in-home quotes free?

Yes. In-home quotes for installation are free. Diagnostic and service calls start at $150 plus HST for the visit and diagnosis; repair labour and parts are quoted separately.

Is electrical work included?

No. Electrical work, if needed, must be done by a licensed electrician and is not included in our quote. This applies to both 120 V and 240 V systems.

Can I replace only the power unit?

Often yes, when existing piping and inlets are compatible. We confirm compatibility before ordering.

What information is needed for a quote?

Your town, whether the home is new or existing, flooring types, and any preferred brand or model. For repairs, include the brand, model and a short description of the problem. You can attach photos of the unit or model label to the form.
