Diagnosis

Weak central vacuum suction

Weak suction has a short list of usual causes. A few checks at home can save you a service call, and if they do not, we can find the cause quickly.

Checks you can do first

01

Bag or canister

Empty the canister or change the bag. A full bag is the most common cause.

02

Filter

Clean or replace the filter following the manual for your model.

03

Hose

Try the hose at another inlet, and check the hose end for a blockage.

04

Inlet doors

Make sure every inlet door closes fully. One open or broken seal leaks a lot of air.

What we test on a service call

Air leaks

Inlet seals, loose fittings, a cracked pipe or a poorly sealed unit connection.

Blockages

Hose, branch lines, elbows and the main line at the unit.

Motor condition

Worn motor brushes or bearings reduce power and add noise.

Exhaust

A blocked exhaust line or vent restricts airflow.

Sizing

Very long runs or many inlets on a small unit can feel weak by design.

Service calls start at $150 plus HST. That covers the visit and diagnosis. Any repair labour and parts are quoted before work goes ahead.

FAQ

Common questions

What causes weak central vacuum suction?

Most often a full bag or canister, a dirty filter, a clog, or an inlet door that is not sealing. Worn motors and blocked exhaust lines are less common causes.

Suction is weak at only one inlet. Why?

That usually means a clog or leak in the branch line to that inlet, or a worn seal on that inlet door.
